Blu-Ray - The winning standard of high definition

Blu-Ray Disc is the winner of the format war!

After a long lasting war between Sony (Blu-Ray) and Toshiba (HD-DVD), a winner is now official - BLU-RAY!

It has for a long time been clear that both formats has a great advantage compared to the successful DVD format. Both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD have the ability of playing 1080i (interlaced picture build-up) and 720p (progressive picture build-up) which is the defined spesification of High Definition i US and Europe, respectivly. Actually, 1080p has becomed a very common resolution of the Blu-Ray movies getting released, and it definitely justify the movie when it comes to showing details the DVD are not capable of.

So what is a Blu-Ray Disc capable of? First of all, its capacity is over 5 times higher than the regular DVD - about 50GB compared to a little less than 10GB of the DVD (dual layer for both). This means the movies theoretically can have a 5 times higher resolution compared to the DVD, and still put it on a single disc. 1080p is not 5 times higher resolution than DVD, but about 2-3 times higher. This gives a lot of space available for other material on the disc, as extras.

One more thing about Blu-Ray Discs is that it provides the best audio available. You will get the latest Dolby Digital, DTS, THX formats for the sound. When served a movie with 1080p resolution on a comatible television accompanied by the best surround sound on a 5.1 or better speaker system, you WILL have a lot better experience than the regular DVD. I promise you!

Just short time ago, people didn't know if to buy a HD-DVD system or a Blu-Ray Disc system. But finally, that is not going to be a question anymore, since Toshiba withdraw their HD-DVD accepting being defeated by Blu-Ray. So if you are in doubt - don't be anymore. Blu Ray Disc is the winner, and will be regular format for movies, as DVD are now.

If you don't know where to buy the Blu-Ray players or movies, I could recommend several sites. Just about any serious movie store or electronics store will definitaly have Blu-Ray items in house. But to get the hardware, and movies at the best prices, I recommend following the link below, as YOU decide the price!
